Fantasy Girl
music by Donna Blue
Two stories, one fantasy.
And the story goes like this…
Fantasy Girl was made as an assignment on by the people of Snowstar Records’ Donna Blue, and we had only 6 weeks to work on it.
At the beginning, I had some issues with working on how to get this done; What medium, what the music invoked, what the end result is going to be.
To be honest, that was the most difficult part of the whole project.
After some guidance from some teachers, I managed to work up on the concept through noting down what findings I got in a Excel sheet.
Over the time, I managed to work out the rough draft: “Two stories, one fantasy.”
I managed to find over 9 hours of content for the videoclip through Archive.org, an archive for media, to fit the music. The feel of the 50’s throughout the 80’s kept returning every time I listened to the song.
Eventually I settled to two hours of footage to retrofit the song. One of them was Penny Serenade, and the other was The Big Blur. Both had this feeling of drama to them when I went through the movies.
My main stake of the videoclip was the lyric “I’m waiting for your love”, and went with the cadence of “finding love” as the general theme. It didn’t worked exactly the way how I got out, but I was happy at the time and it still holds up nicely.
I might redo this in the distant future as this project was rather fun to do.
But on my own time. ;)
